Get You Photography 'Art' Blog

I currently shoot with a Canon 7D and a range of lenses including:

70-200 f/2.8 IS USM L series zoom lens

50mm f/1.4

60mm macro

10-22 wide angle

18-55 kit lens

I do a lot of gig photography, mainly because I love music. I generally gig alone, so use the camera to feel less self conscious about being on my own. I prefer small venues without security guards, bag checks, crowd barriers and ‘3 songs, no flash’ rules (although I normally shoot without flash anyway). I mainly use my 70-200 zoom lens at gigs. The f/2.8 copes well in low light. I’ll also use the 50mm f/1.4 if it’s particularly dark, resorting to flash only if absolutely necessary. I also do a lot of editing and use Paint Shop Pro and a whole host of effects packages to rescue duff shots with potential.

Other than gigs, I enjoy beaches (Winchelsea being my favourite) and woodland (often going back to the farm where I was born and raised).

I’ve posted a couple of galleries of gig photos and general photos. Feel free to have a browse. They’re on random play so you should see a different order each time you visit and I’ll try to change and update them over time.
